AFRICA SUNRISE

StarStarStarStar

Type : Bed and Breakfast Accommodation
Grading : Tourism Grading Council of South Africa - Graded four stars.
Location : Port Owen, Velddrif
Velddrif-Laaiplek is built on the north bank of the Berg River. Velddrif was once the fording place a little way up the river and Laaiplek the loading place at the river mouth. Modern improvements have made considerable changes to the town. A breakwater offers the important fishing fleet safe anchorage at the river wharf side from where the lobster cannery and meal processing plant are supplied. From here the Berg River is navigable in small boats for 60 kilometres in an area notable for prolific bird life. Velddrif is the finishing post of the 28 kilometre Berg River canoe marathon that starts at Paarl and is held each year in August

Description:
Escape to the tranquillity of the West Coast, with its abundant bird life, magnificent springtime flower displays, beautiful beaches and the meandering Berg River. Enjoy the magic of bird-watching, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, boating and much more!
Port Owen is a marina development in the quaint West Coast fishing village of Velddrif. Just 90 minutes away from Cape Town, it is situated on the banks of the Berg River, just a short distance from where the river runs into the sea at Laaiplek.
