After Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Swellendam was the third settlement to be founded by the Dutch East India Company. The Drostdy was completed in 1747 and in the same year the new district was named Swellendam in honour of Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena ten Damme. Swellendam is a busy centre of a thriving agricultural region.
Description : Situated on the N2 National Road midway between Cape Town and George on the scenic Garden Route, lies Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa. Built in 1833, Bo-Kapie is one of the oldest houses in Swellendam. It is centrally situated for museums, restaurants, shops, nine hole golf course, hiking trials, mountain bike trails, Marloth Nature Reserve etc. The magnificent Langeberg Mountains offer excellent walking and hiking with overnight huts. Swellendam has an airfield and aero club for gliding and flying.
Accommodation : Bo-Kapie sleeps 4 - 6 persons and is fully equipped for self catering, including bedding. There are 2 bathrooms (one en suite). There is an open hearth and wood is provided. Breakfast is also available upon request.

Directions on How to Get There From Cape Town take the N2 through Caledon to Swellendam. Turn left on the Ashton, Montagu Road and at the intersection of Voortrek Road turn right. Travel for several kilometers along Voortrek Road to the centre of town (CBD). Turn left into Jansen Street. We are on the top left corner number 1 Jansen Street.
