CAPE AGULHAS GUEST HOUSE

Type : Guest House Accommodation
Grading : Three stars : Tourism Grading Council of South Africa
Location : L'Agulhas
The most southerly point of the African continent is Cape Agulhas; where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. The name Agulhas derives from the Portuguese word meaning needles - some say because of the nature of the sharp saw-edged rock formations of the coast; while others claim because at this point the compasses showed no deviation. The shallow Agulhas Bank (60 fathoms deep) extends for 80 kilometers from the coast and is one of the worlds most prolific commercial fishing grounds....... read more

Directions to Cape Agulhas Guest House
From Cape Town/Cape Town International Airport
Take the N2 national road via Somerset West, Grabouw and Bot River to Caledon. Turn right into Caledon town and follow that road, right through the town of Caledon. Be particularly aware of numerous speed zones and speed traps along the first 100km of your journey. The next village is Napier, about 50km from Caledon. Pass through Napier and 15km further you arrive at the town of Bredasdorp. At the 4th 4-way stop you turn right towards Struisbaai and L'Agulhas. The road is fairly well signposted. 30km further you arrive at Struisbaai. Drive through Struisbaai and you will see the sign "L'Agulhas", indicating that you have arrived in Africa's southernmost town of L'Agulhas. We are located exactly 2km from the entrance to L'Agulhas. The turn-off is marked with a standard brown and white roadsign and arrow. At night time the entire wall and gable of the building is brightly illuminated with blue floodlights. If you arrive during daytime, look for Cooper Street on your right (2km from the "Welcome in Agulhas" sign). If you miss Cooper Street, do not worry, take the next turn to your right which is Crescent Street. We are located at the corner of Cooper and Crescent Streets.
Should you get lost at any time, try and phone us for directions. We are on (028) 435 7975 (landline) or 083 458 2638 or 072 126 8680 (cell phones).
From the Garden Route
Follow the N2 national road in a westerly direction until you reach the town of Swellendam. Approximately 13km after Swellendam is a signpost on your left indicating "Bredasdorp" and the most southern tip of Africa. Bredasdorp is about 55km from the turn-off. At the first 4-way stop in Bredasdorp, turn left. At the next 4-way stop you turn right towards Struisbaai and L'Agulhas. From this point, follow the same directions as above.
Please remember to:
Drive carefully and safely at all times
Stick to speed limits
Drive on the left hand side of the road
Enjoy the scenery en-route.
We are located in one of a few habitats for the endangered blue crane bird (the National bird of South Africa)
Be aware of animals and owls in the road at night time.
