Named after the wild geese in the area, Gansbaai is a quaint fishing village from where there are sweeping views of this rugged stretch of coast. Each year during the summer holiday season people from up-country flock to nearby villages from Franskraal to Pearly Beach as well as the holiday resort at Uilenskraalmond in order to enjoy the fine weather and wide open beaches where various activities take place, including angling, boating and safe bathing in the lagoon.
Description : Gansbaai Lodge and Backpackers is situated in the centre of town, close to all shops and restaurants. The Lodge overlooks the traditional fishing harbour with stunning views. Self-catering kitchen is available for guests. For those who would like to relax there is a quiet TV lounge. The beer garden is an ideal place to meet new friends.
Gansbaai is the international Mecca for Great White Shark diving and viewing. Other activities include 4x4 trips, boat fishing and boat or land based whale watching.

When entering Gansbaai turn right at the first stop sign. At the next stop turn left. Take the first right again and proceed to 6 Strand Street.
