An important grain centre with huge silos at the railhead, Albertinia was named after the Reverend J.R. Albertyn who pioneered the establishment of the Dutch Reformed Church there.
The substantial deposits of yellow ochre in the district provide South Africa's principal output. The clay is recovered by opencast mining and after processing the ochre is despatched to local and overseas markets for use as a pigment in the colouring of cement products linoleum and paint.

Albertinia is ideally situated to serve as a destination for a short break visit to historical and unique places - the town and vicinity's historical ties go back more than a century. There are aloe factories, manufacturing unique food and cosmetic products from the aloe plants. Visit the indigenous rural townships which is an example of the cultural diversities and traditional lifestyles in South Africa. Farming activities including Cape fynbos with some rare and unique species to be seen during the summer and autumn seasons.

Directions on How to Get There
From Cape Town or the Garden Route travel on the N2 to Albertinia. Turn into Albertinia and follow Station Street to the T-junction. Turn right into Main Street and left into Malan Street, then right into Marsh Street. We are at number ten Marsh Street.
