At the mouth of the Breede River, Witsand is accessible from the roads that lead off the national road (N2) from Buffeljagsrivier and from four kilometers west of Heidelberg. Witsand, right at the mouth of the estuary overlooking the bay of St Sebastian, is a fine fishing area with wide, white beaches. On the estuary and up-river for a considerable distance conditions are ideal for power boats. Witsand is a popular holiday stay.
Description :
This newly renovated cottage is actually part of the history of the farm. The cottage was named after the man that lived in it for many years and became a well-known legend on the farm. Jan Fenna started working with Hannes' granddad and was still working on the farm when Hannes started farming. His descendants are still living and working on the farm.
The cottage is situated on top of a hill and has a breathtaking view over the farm and countryside. The cottage has two bedrooms, a bathroom and big kitchen - and living room area. It can sleep five people. The living room has an extra bed which can be used as a coach or a bed. The interior of the Guest House spilled over onto the cottage and it is furnished and decorated in the old Cape Dutch style. It is fully equipped with modern gas appliances, battery - operated lanterns and romantic candles. Linen and towels are provided.
The cottage has two fireplaces, one inside and one outside. The fireplace in the kitchen is ideal for making a roaring fire in the cold winter months, but can also be used as an indoor barbeque area.
The big veranda invites people to venture out and experience the comfort of a nice leather coach with colourful pillows and designer wooden chairs. The table and chairs make it easy to have your breakfast outside while planning your day.
The veranda also has a build in fireplace for outside use. If you are brave, you can use the open-air shower and feel one with nature.
Visitors to the cottage can do self-catering OR have breakfast and dinner at the main house. We also provide the option of having your dinners delivered to you at the cottage.
Accommodation:
Self-catering cottage which can accommodate up to five people sharing. The cottage has two bedrooms; one with a double bed and the other with two single beds; there is a sleeper couch in the lounge, a bathroom and big kitchen - and living room area.
Facilities: People staying in the cottage can join the farm tour and farm activities. They have the option of having breakfast and dinners at the main house. This is extra. They can also buy wood at the farm.
Tariff: Low season: 1 June to: 31 August : ZAR700,00 per unit ( 4 people ) High season: 1 September to: 31 May : ZAR900,00 per unit ( 4 people ) Peak season: 1 November to: 31 March : ZAR1000,00 per unit ( 4 people )

Directions:
Coming from Cape Town, take the N2 after Swellendam turn right into R 324, farm is 32km on this road to your right.
Coming from George, take the N2. After Heidelberg turn left into R 322. At the 4 way stop in Witsand, turn right. Keep on this road for 17km. The farm is on your left hand side.
Payment Policy:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.
