In the summer season the farmers of the southern Cape pack up and make for Stilbaai where the opportunities for a carefree holiday are ideal: splendid bathing in the ocean, as well as the river estuary, and surfing at a magnificent beach, where there are sea shells in abundance, boating on the broad estuary and up river for a number of kilometres. Stilbaai offers varied fishing opportunities - deep sea, surf, and river.
Description : The Shepherd's Hut on the farm is said to be amongst the oldest buildings in the area, and once the focal point of activity on this 168 HA part of the original extended Klipfontein Farm. A view away from the water pools of the Goukou River, the hut stands in a tranquil setting next to the old dorsvloer (threshing floor) - today only a meditative circle of stones.
The farm is a private Nature Reserve, boasting all the Ecosystems of the Southern Cape. In this Bird Paradise, indigenous plants, true to their natural habitat, grow within metres of each other, separated only by the dividing lines of nature according to soil type.
Existing buck tracks have been opened up as walks through the Fynbos.
Two Stones Cottages, although only 500 meters away from the Main Dwelling, are completely private. From the stoeps of these cottages you could enjoy the changing moods of the valley below, listen to the silence and find yourself again. In the night sky the stars are brighter than you have ever seen before.
Accommodation :
Gas cookers, fridges and hot showers are the mod-cons, while friendly fireplaces, lamping and flickering candles add to the atmosphere at night.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.

Directions on How to Get There
From Cape Town:
Take the N2 to Riversdale. Approximately eleven kilometres after Riversdale turn right on the R305 to Stilbaai. Travel for twelve kilometres and turn right at the Klipfontein / Melkhoutkraal sign. Travel for seven kilometres, cross the river and after one kilometre turn right to Klipfontein. After eight hundred metres turn right to the farm.
