Entering Beaufort West with its pear-tree-lined streets, green playing fields is a refreshing experience after a long drive through the flat, hot, dry Karoo. It is what its citizens call it, 'the oasis town'. Beaufort West lies between two rivers, the Kuils and the Gamka, but there is seldom any water in the river beds; the town's lifeline is the Gamka Dam, a great reservoir built in the catchment area, high up in the Nuweveld Mountains, ten kilometres to the north.

Description : KO-KA TSARA BUSH CAMP meaning "small bucks kloof" in Khoi, is set in the Nuweveld Mountains of the Great Karoo, 8km outside Beaufort West.
This intimate and exclusive bush camp is situated on a Private Game Reserve comprising 30 000 acres of pristine Karoo veld. The reserve plays host to more than 20 species of game including Giraffe, Kudu, Gemsbok, Wildebeest and Eland. Bird life is prolific with nearly 200 different varieties recorded on the Reserve.
This secluded bush camp consists of 7 chalets, a Lounge / Conference Centre, Bar and Boma surrounded by rocky crags and the Nuweveld Mountains.
Exterior by day The chalets were designed and built by the game farm owner, Werner Koster, who exclusively used local poplars and stone for their construction. The Rustic décor is completed by slate floors, hand made furniture and wood finishes.
Chalet Interior Stylishly decorated, each chalet sleeps four with an en suite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and own private braai (barbecue) facility.
Each chalet has its own private parking area and is comprehensively furnished including fans for summer and heaters for winter.
The night sounds of jackal calling create the ambiance of Africa and make this a nature lover's paradise. The Seven A-Frame chalets, built from stone, timber and thatch offer the ideal accommodation for this perfect hideaway.

Directions on How to Get There One kilometer north of Beaufort West on the N1 turn onto the Carnavon / Loxton road and travel seven kilometers. Turn right into Ko Ka Tsara gates and travel 2.5 kilometers to the chalets.
