Toward the end of van Riebeeck's time at the Cape, in 1657, the Secretary of the Council of Policy, Abraham Gabbema, led an expedition into the interior to search for meat, when he came upon the Berg River Valley. It is said that when Gabbema saw the glittering granite domes that dominate the middle reaches of the valley he likened them to giant-size pearls and so named the valley 'Paarlvallei'. The original name of the valley still remains in the name of the town.

Relax and unwind in the comfort of your own exclusive cottage under the oak trees. Our Self-catering cottage is elegantly furnished, fully equipped with TV and security. Experience the pleasure of staying on a wine farm. Soak up the beauty of the surrounding views. The Landskroon cottage caters for tourists to the Western Cape. Our close proximately to the towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek, makes this and ideal base from which to explore the famed Cape Winelands.
Accommodation :
The cottage can sleep four; it has a double bed plus a double sleeper couch. The bedroom has a bathroom en-suite with both bath and shower. Additionally, there is a guest toilet. The Landskroon Cottage has all the conveniences to make your stay pleasurable. It is equipped with a stove, microwave oven, laundry facilities and TV and is serviced daily. To facilitate the great South African tradition of a braai, we have provided both an indoor and an outdoor barbeque. If you can't leave your business behind, facsimile and e-mail services are available at Landskroon's Business Centre.
