Built in 1938, Rus'n Bietjie is one of the last remaining, original cottages of the old L'Agulhas. The holiday home comprises a picturesque self contained cottage only 100 metres from the sea, with a lovely view. One can do whale watching from your front stoep! It is only two and a half hours drive from Cape Town and 3 kilometres from the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
Right in front of Rus-'n-Bietjie is an exciting but safe historical tidal pool. L'Agulhas boasts the second oldest lighthouse and the only lighthouse museum in South Africa. The whole area is excellent for fishing. There are various tidal pools along the coast. Six kilometres away is a long stretch of sandy beach at Struisbaai which is excellent for swimming as well as an assortment of other water sports.
Accommodation : The house has 3 bedrooms with beds for 2-8 people in total. Beds are distributed as follows:
* room with sea views has one double bed.
* room with sea views has 3 single beds.
* room with mountain views has 3 single beds.
Bed linen comprising sheet, a duvet, two pillows and two bath towels are provided for each person unless otherwise indicated by the visitor. Each person must provide his own swimming towel.
There is one bathroom with toilet, washbasin and bath. There is no shower. Unlimited supply of hot water is provided by way of gas geyser. The house also has an outside toilet which is useful when having a braai.
The kitchen has lovely sea views and is fully equipped with a fridge, deep freeze, 4 plate hob and oven, as well as a microwave. Basic necessities such as coffee, tea, sugar, worcester sauce, vinegar, soap etc., are also provided.
There is an outdoor braai on a large under cover stoep with magnificent sea views.
The combined lounge-dining room has a colour television set.
Rus 'n Bietjie is rustic, not very luxurious and has a fisherman's cottage feel, but is well-appointed, full of character and always spotlessly clean.
The whole house is rented out as one unit.
Rates : from R350 per night for the whole unit midweek and from R520 per night for the whole unit weekends.
From R700.00 per night for the whole unit during Easter weekend and December Holidays.
