After Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Swellendam was the third settlement to be founded by the Dutch East India Company. The Drostdy was completed in 1747 and in the same year the new district was named Swellendam in honour of Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena ten Damme. Swellendam is a busy centre of a thriving agricultural.
Description : Three luxurious chalets situated in the main street near the town centre. The style is typical of the old fisherman's cottages.
Accommodation in the cottages :
The cottages are equipped with an indoor barbecue a television, microwave oven a fridge, kettle, toaster and hot plate
crockery and cutlery, a sleeper couch, a single bed and a loose mattress. The bedroom is equipped with dressing table, two single beds, build in cupboard, linen, duvets & towels.
Each of two chalets consist of a bedroom, a lounge and a full bathroom and can accommodate six people.
A third cottage consists of a double bedroom en suite bathroom with shower and is suitable for two people

From The Garden Route: Travel to Swellendam and turn off the N2. Proceed into town and into Voortrek Street. Pass the large white church on your right and further on the hotel on your right. Skipskop Chalets is on your right at number 105 Voortrek Street.
From Cape Town: Travel to Swellendam and turn off the N2 at the Swellendam / Ashton road. At the stop sign turn right into Voortrek Street. Skipskop Chalets is on your left at number 105 Voortrek Street.
Things to do : Swellendam offers you: walking, hiking, overnight huts, superb bird watching, mountain bike trails, 9-hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, airfield, aero club for gliding and flying, canoeing on Breede River and water sport on the nearby Buffeljagsdam.
Visit the Drostdy museum, Bontebok Park and scenic Tradouw Pass through Suurbraak, tours to De Hoop nature reserve, pont at Malagas, whale watching at Witsand and wine at neighbouring towns.
