STRANDVELD VINEYARDS COTTAGES
Type : Self-catering Farm Accommodation
Grading : Tourism Grading Council of South Africa - Not graded.
Location : Elim District
On the road from Gansbaai to Bredasdorp is the Moravian mission station, Elim, with its charming atmosphere from the past, where sheep graze at the doorsteps of the thatch-roofed white-washed cottages. The farmhouse, built in 1796, the church with its old clock and the watermill are fascinating features. Probably the last of its kind in South Africa, the watermill was erected in 1828 and was in use until 1972. In 1974 the mill house was converted into a museum.

This provides the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy Strandveld and First Sighting wines surrounded by all that have made them what they are - the fynbos, the wetlands, the birds, the sun, the coastal winds and the vastness that is the southernmost tip of Africa.
The Cottages form part of the original farmstead and the colonial ambiance reminds one of days gone by in distant and sparsely inhabited country. Located almost dead centre in the Agulhas Plain, you can easily see the magnificence of the Strandveld and beyond.
