After Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Swellendam was the third settlement to be founded by the Dutch East India Company. The Drostdy was completed in 1747 and in the same year the new district was named Swellendam in honour of Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena ten Damme. Swellendam is a busy centre of a thriving agricultural region.

Swellendam Country Lodge is a perfect place to unwind, a place to discover and enjoy. Guests are welcomed with quality accommodation and excellent services. All 6 rooms offer a bathroom en suite and a private entrance with veranda from where to enjoy the beautiful gardens. On warm summer days, the large sparkling swimming pool is a refreshment not to be missed.
A generous breakfast is served outside on the veranda, or indoors near the fireplace on that few cold winter mornings. For lunch or dinner you can stroll to the terrace of one of the restaurants next door to our B&B. Other excellent restaurants and shops are nearby.
Swellendam Country Lodge is also a unique holiday-stay in combination with your visit to Cape Town and destinations along the Garden Route or the Route 62. Various activities nearby and an endless list of day trips to choose from.

Accommodation : All 6 guest rooms are situated in he garden, separate from the main house. Yellowwood trees, fruit trees and palms are surrounding the accommodation. All rooms have a private entrance and a veranda overlooking the garden, quality beds with pure cotton linen, tv, mini bar, wifi internet access, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The accommodation has an elegant atmosphere: natural lines and colours combined with modern touches.

Rooms 1 & 2 : Standard garden rooms with a private entrance and veranda. Each room has a bathroom en suite with shower. TV, mini bar, fan, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, heater, hair-dryer etc. Double bed, or twin beds.
Tariff : Low season ZAR 410 High season : ZAR 460: The rates are per person sharing including breakfast.
Rooms 3 & 4 & 5 & 6: Luxury garden rooms with a private entrance and veranda. Each room has a spacious bathroom en suite with shower or with separate bath and shower. TV, mini bar, ceiling fan, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, heater, hair-dryer etc. Queen-size bed, or twin beds.
Tariff : Low season : ZAR 410 High season : ZAR 520 The rates are per person sharing including breakfast.
Children : ZAR 50 for a cot in the room: ZAR 175 for an extra childbed in the room.
Payment Policy:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.
