The fishermen's cottages roofed with straw gave Struisbaai its name. Three of these cottages have been restored and serve as a reminder of a time gone by. The handsome bay has been formed by an eleven kilometer curve in the coastline where fishermen, bathers and sun-seekers are attracted. Each year in mid-summer the Trans Agulhas boat race takes place and draws large crowds of excited spectators. Another event which takes place annually and also attracts large crowds is the Struisbaai Geelstertfees.

Close to where the 2 oceans meet you find this warm and spacious holiday accommodation, TARENTAAL. This self catering guest house is situated in the peaceful coastal village of Struisbaai in the beautiful Western Cape. Tarentaal is within walking distance of the beach, great restaurants, art galleries and our famous harbour.
Our guests may either book individual rooms, flats, the house as a whole or the property as a whole. Sunny, airy and very comfortably furnished, every day is a holiday at this spacious holiday house.
The TARENTAAL property consists of a MAIN HOUSE (3 en-suite bedrooms) and FLATS (2 x Fully equipped en-suite bedrooms with kitchenette). TARENTAAL offer 3 entertainment areas and 5 under cover parking bays. A fully equipped Laundry is available for self help or as a service (Wash and Dry). The Dining Room may also be used for meetings and seminars for groups of up to 15 people.
Accommodation : Number of Units: 3 Number of Guests: 15 Unit Description: The Main House consists of 3 x en-suite bedrooms (Rooms No. 3, 4 & 5), a communal kitchen and a lounge with DSTV. Rooms No. 3 & 4 sleeps two (1x King size bed) and Room No. 5 sleeps 3 (1x King size + 1x Single bed). Rooms No. 4 & 5 both has private entrances. All rooms are fully equipped with linen and towels. A spacious lounge with DSTV and open plan kitchen is ready to build holiday memories.
THE FLATS are separate from the MAIN HOUSE complete with fully equipped with kitchenettes, Internet and DSTV. Both FLATS sleep 4 (1x King size and 2x Single bed) and both have private entrances and access to the communal dining room and the outside braai area.
Facilities: TARENTAAL offer 3 entertainment areas which are tailor made to built memories The outside entertainment area is covered and come complete with braai facilities and seats which cater for up to 20 people. The outside entertainment facilities are connected with the dining room area which also double as the inside braai. The dining room may also be used for meetings and seminars for groups of up to 15 people. Tarentaal offer our guests five covered parking bays. A fully equipped Laundry is available for self help or as a service (Wash and Dry). The spacious lounge are equipped with DSTV and the kitchen is fully equipped with cuttlary and china (i.e. for 20 people, a stove, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge.

Pets: Only if the the property is booked as a whole and the management is informed before hand shall a maximum of 2 x Pets (small dogs or cats) be allowed.
Attractions and Activities:
Struisbaai offers a host of activities - walking, swimming (the main beach are 600meter from Tarentaal or 5 minutes walk) wind surfing, surf and rock angling, Scuba and snorkel diving, kite flying, deep sea fishing, and birding to mention a few. A short drive and you can visit the L'Agulhas Nature reserve, the Southern Tip of Africa and the De Hoop Nature Reserve, where the Southern Right Whale comes to breed and mate during the months of August to November every year.
For a day trip you may visit the historical Elim, our famous local wine farms, Napier, Hermanus and Gansbaai.
If nothing else you may enjoy a lazy day in the sun with a glass of local wine in the courtyard followed by a peaceful and tranquil evening at TARENTAAL!
Directions: Once you enter the town of Struisbaai and you pass the Caltex filling station on your right. You then cross one street and find TARENTAAL on your left, the third property from the corner.
Payment Policy:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.
