Although the national road divides Wilderness it has done nothing to spoil its profound beauty, in fact if anything the separation of the eight kilometre long beach from the village fringing the lagoon produces a special charm and the road provides accessibility to view sites to take in the scenic delights. At Wilderness the Touws River forms a lagoon from where boats can be taken upstream for sixteen kilometres leading to the lakes and Ebb and Flow Nature Reserve, a sanctuary of woodland streams, waterfalls and prolific bird life.
Description : We invite you to come and share and experience the old world charm of The Old Trading Post, amidst the peace, tranquillity and natural beauty of the Wilderness Lakes District.
Tastefully decorated Victorian style accommodation, with fine linen, antique cottage furniture and kelims, and well equipped to take care of our guests' every need.
The Old Trading Post is a popular weekend and holiday destination where guests can relax and unwind in their rooms, or in one of the cosy corners of the garden or on the long sunny veranda whilst they are not exploring the region.
Accommodation:
Four rooms able to accommodate ten people
Accommodation consists of: Strelitzia Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and can accommodate a family of four with a double bed in the bedroom and bunk beds in the living area. The en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower and washing machine.
The Garden Room in the shade of an ancient Milkwood Tree has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower, kitchenette for self-catering and private courtyard. Lara's Room has a double bed and guests can enjoy a candlelit bath in a deep original cast iron bath. The Tin Room has two single beds and en-suite bathroom with a shower and skylight. (Can be used as a second bedroom for larger groups in Strelitzia Cottage)
Facilities: All accommodation has tea and coffee facilities, fridge, television, linen and towels with many extras for our guests' every need, including fans for summer and heaters and electric blankets for cold winter nights. All guests can use the braai facilities.
A generous breakfast is served in our dining room.
Well behaved pets are welcome.

Attractions and Activities:
Centrally situated to visit all attractions and towns along the Garden Route. Several popular beaches, Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe, craft and produce markets, canoe hire, cycling, walks, bird watching, whale watching and lots more.
Directions:
Follow the N2 from Wilderness for 6 km towards Knysna, and turn left at the "Die Vleie" sign. Or if travelling from Knysna, The Die Vleie / The Lakes turn off is 15 km past Sedgefield, turn off to the right. Follow the road for 1.7 km, we are the last house on the right before the road splits and goes over a bridge.
Payment Policy:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.
