Description : Verfheuwel Guest House is a cosy cottage set in a magnificent garden with a swimming pool and abundant birdlife. Situated close to De Hoop Nature Reserve, where you can participate in whale watching, hiking trails, mountain biking and other activities. Potberg, within the nature reserve, is the home of the endangered Cape Vulture. On the farm the guest may experience sheep, grain and ostrich farming. Guests may enjoy farm fresh milk, home baked bread or cooked meals by arrangement.
Come and relax in a peaceful atmosphere and enjoy fresh air while walking or cycling in beautiful farmlands. Verfheuwel is the nearest guest house to the Whale Trail start / finish. Too late for the De Hoop gate? -then try us - stay for a while and explore the area.

Accommodation :
Fully equipped garden cottage with one double bedroom and two single beds for the kids in the lounge. Linen and towels provided. There is an outside braai (wood supplied) and swimming pool.

ZAR90 per child under 13 years of age.

Payment Policy:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of the reservation and the balance is payable on arrival.

Directions on How to Get There
From Cape Town:
Take the N2 from Cape Town to Caledon. At Caledon take the R316 to Bredasdorp. From Bredasdorp take the R319 to Swellendam. Travel for 8km. Turn right onto the gravel road to Malagas / De Hoop. Stay on this road for 40km to Potberg. Verfheuwel is on the left.
From The Garden Route:
4km beyond Swellendam on the N2 towards Riviersonderend turn left on the road to Malagas. Travel for 22kmthen turn right to Ouplaas. Travel for 13km until you reach the T-junction. Turn left to Potberg. Travel for 4km. Verfheuwel is on your left.



Activities & Attractions :
* De Hoop Nature Reserve - known for its fauna and flora and the    magnificent dunes at Koppie Alleen, from which one can watch the    whales which come to breed from June to November each year.
* Potberg - walking and cycling trail - look out for the endangered Cape    Vultures.
* Malagas - experience the only manually operated pont in the country    on the way to the Breede River estuary and Witsand.
* Swellendam - historic old town - visit the Drostdy and old goal.
* Bredasdorp - a visit to the Shipwreck museum is well worth while.
* Arniston / Waenhuiskrans - fisherman's village and sea cave    accessible at low tide.
* Cape Agulhas - southernmost point in Africa - the lighthouse has a    unique museum.
