The fishermen's cottages roofed with straw gave Struisbaai its name. Three of these cottages have been restored and serve as a reminder of a time gone by. The handsome bay has been formed by an eleven kilometer curve in the coastline where fishermen, bathers and sun-seekers are attracted. Each year in mid-summer the Trans Agulhas boat race takes place and draws large crowds of excited spectators. Another event which takes place annually and also attracts large crowds is the Struisbaai Geelstertfees.
Description : Whalesong Cottage is situated 200 meters from the longest beach in the southern hemisphere. This beach is regarded as a mecca for kite surfers, surfers, mountain bikers and runners. Situated over the dunes it is a self contained thatch cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably. The cottage is fully furnished and bedding is supplied. It has a fully contained outside entertainment area, with outside and inside braai facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances including a microwave and washing machine.

Directions:
From Cape Town take the N2 to Caledon. Take the road to Napier and Bredasdorp. At Bredasdorp follow the Cape Aghulas sign boards. As you enter Struisbaai take the first road left into Argonaut/Langezandt. Take first left into Langezandt fisherman's village. Follow the signs to the office and ask for Lizbe.
