Arniston

Rolling sand dunes, golden beaches, the blue of the sea, craggy cliffs and quaint fisherman's cottages, are all part of this delightful village with two names. Known by the locals as Waenhuiskrans, named after the huge sea cavern, which is so large it was said an ox wagon and team of oxen could turn full circle inside the cave. The cave is accessible at low tide.
To others the village is known as Arniston, named after the East Indiaman of the same name which wrecked there in 1815 with tragic loss of life.
Several old fisherman's cottages at Kassiesbaai are national monuments.
