How to start a travel blog in 2021
Having basically made all the mistakes there is to make trying to find a way, any way, to make money online and how to start a travel blog, I’ve realised (and have hard proof) that hard work and consistency pays off when you try to make money online in this industry.
There is absolutely no easy way to get rich quick, but if you write about something you’re passionate about, you can follow your passion for freedom and earn money online and basically travel the world as you blog about your passion… You know the passion you have experience or opinions on!
Content marketing does drive traffic. Whether your content is a right fit for your audience, that will drive the results and increase traffic to your website. Unless your content is great and goes viral, your traffic will grow gradually, but your traffic will grow.

I started Stayhere as a travel website many years ago and initially used up all my free time setting the site up in WordPress and had this idea of selling accommodation in South Africa at a commission, which is still available on Stayhere today. However, I found that the admin, support and learning WordPress from scratch effectively took up all my free time and I couldn’t focus on content for the site! Yes… having a travel website is rewarding in many ways, but it is also hard work.
So I started a travel blog on Stayhere, where PR Agencies could post articles relevant to South African Travel, News, Adventure and Sports. I linked to my properties from some of those articles, and I soon realised that I have much more free time left and started learning about writing content for SEO, marketing, generating leads and optimising images for SEO.
With so much more free time on my hands, I took the time to write my own articles about related products, establishments and optimised the other articles (with permission of course) and to the best of my knowledge! But I modified it to be geared towards generating traffic and building leads.
